Service Description
This immersive 3-hour workshop offers a beginner-friendly introduction to Hoodoo, the rich African American folk tradition rooted in ancestral wisdom, herbal knowledge, and spiritual resistance. Participants will explore the foundations of Hoodoo, including its historical origins during slavery, connections to African spiritual systems, and evolution through generations as a source of healing, protection, and empowerment. Through discussion, storytelling, and hands-on practice, participants will learn key concepts such as rootwork, ancestor reverence, spiritual baths, and the use of mojo bags. The workshop also introduces common tools and ingredients like herbs, oils, candles, and petition papers, with a strong emphasis on cultural respect and ethical practice. Participants will create their own personalized mojo bag for protection, love, or prosperity, and learn how to maintain it as a living spiritual object. We’ll also discuss building an ancestor altar and incorporating daily rituals for spiritual grounding and connection. No prior experience is necessary—just a respectful heart and open mind. All materials are provided. Participants will leave with practical tools, historical context, and a deeper understanding of Hoodoo as both a cultural legacy and a living spiritual practice. Perfect for spiritual seekers, cultural learners, and community healers.
